Doha Historical Arabic Dictionary is a project by Doha’s leading research institution, Arab Centre for Research and Policy Studies aimed at compiling the Arabic lexicon in a historical dictionary. The challenge was to create an impactful event to celebrate and launch this dictionary with an objective to demonstrate the story of the project from its inception to completion and to create content that can engage everyone, not just professional researchers.

Motif created an experience to take guests on a journey through the Doha Arabic Dictionary. The event was meticulously designed to tell the story of the dictionary creatively, flipping the traditional launching style.

MOTIF arranged the event’s running order, created all the content, and provided photographers, videographers, and television coverage of the event. We designed an elaborate set and installed dynamic displays to evoke the feeling of watching a movie.

The format featured a series of animation videos to highlight the importance of the project by narrating the story in a shareable, simple yet engaging way without overwhelming the audience along with the emcee talking between the sections.

While creating the animation series we decided that the most effective way to demonstrate the Arabic language is through a poem and Arabic typography.

The narration of the videos was one of the most critical points for which Motif collaborated with the Leader of the Lebanese Artists Union Gehad Alatrash to narrate the content perfectly. We shot and produced around six videos including an explainer video and promotional video for social media channels.
